Brief History
• On August 27, 1913, Keeper Joseph Meyer went ashore for provisions and was unable to land at the lighthouse due to high seas.
• Although the local maritime community protested loudly, the station was decommissioned in 1953 and the property offered for sale.
• In 1984, Eryk Spektor, Chairman of the Board of the First Women's Bank, New York City, bought Stamford Harbor Light for $230,000.
• The lighthouse was placed on the market for $1.1 million in 1996. Spektor passed away in 1998, and the lighthouse was subsequently taken off the market.
• In August 2023, Gary Kalan and Brendan McGee teamed up to purchase Stamford Harbor Lighthouse from Alex Spector for $500,000.
