Brief History
•  The storm-tossed seas wreaked havoc on September 3, 1821, as a hurricane ripped through the island.
•  In 1931, $22,900 was requested to establish new aids to navigation at Black Rock that led to the discontinuance of Black Rock Lighthouse.
•  The lighthouse was given to the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1934 and became a part of Seaside Park.
•  The 1998 restoration was conducted under the direction of David Barbour, a local architect.
•  In 2004, vandals smashed the solar panels and new panels with protective cages were installed in 2007
