Description
It offers climbing tours of the landmark 1860 lighthouse.
Brief History
• Building was designed by George Meade. Construction was interrupted by the 3rd Seminole War (1855 - 1858).
• A two-story dwelling for a head keeper and two assistants was built near the base of the hill in 1859.
• 1879 - Lighthouse survived two earthquakes.
• 1910 - Due to deterioration, the exterior brick was covered with red-colored cement.
• In 2017, the lighthouse was closed for a month while the lantern room roof was replaced.
