Description
A round wood-frame tower, capped by a lantern house which is topped by a polygonal roof, and surrounded by a in iron walkway with railing. The keeper's house is a two-story wood-frame structure, clad in shingles on the upper floor and clapboard on the first floor.
Brief History
• 1870, the lighthouse was re-established and 5th order Fresnel lens installed.
• 1934, The lighthouse is automated, but keepers were still on site.
• 1951, Fresnel lens was replaced by modern optic.
• 2000, Lighthouse licensed to the American Lighthouse Foundation.
• 2004, Lantern removed, lead paint removed and repainted. Lantern deck was replaced before the lantern was reattached to the lighthouse.
