Brief History
• 1875, The station was seriously damaged by the ice during the past winter, and the rebuilding of the beacon becomes a necessity.
• In 1878, the lighthouse was removed from the stone pier and was taken ashore.
• On January 5th, 1920 ice damaged the Musselbed Shoals lighthouse's foundation again.
• In 1924, Musselbed Shoals first lighthouse was torn down and was replaced with a four room lighthouse.
• After being severely damaged by the 1938 Hurricane, Musselbed Shoals Lighthouse was removed in 1939 and replaced by a light on a skeletal tower.
