Description
The wooden tower is gone, but gone the keeper's house built in 1888 still stands and was extensively renovated in 2009 and is a private residence.
Brief History
• 1869 – The house has been painted outside and in, glass set, outbuildings and fences whitewashed, plank walk laid, and bell tower painted.
• 1875, By act approved March 3, 1875, an appropriation of $2,000 was made for protecting the site and establishing a fog-bell.
• The light was deactivated in 1927 and the station was abandoned a few years later.
• 1927 – Keeper’s dwelling and surrounding property was sold for $1,105 except for a small plot on which the tower stood.
• Skeletal tower was built around 1941 exists where tower once stood. This structure serves as Jordan Point Range Rear Light.
